Medicina:Atención TempranaResumen: As an unabashed fan of David Luterman´s writing for many years I always look forward to his next book. The Young Deaf Child is anything but a disappointment. In the book, Dr. Luterman once again champions the child, that individual who has the most to win or lose, but who furnishes the least input to the decisions about his or her future. There b a fascinating review of how the deaf child has been treated historically, Luterman then proceeds to outline what the evidence shows to be best for the child, early intervention, maximization of techonology, and strong family involvement. What must be overcome are the biases of those who have their own axes to grind, in many cases including audiologists, physicians, educators, and the Deaf Community, In addition to presenting evidence to support his positions. Dr. Luterman fiercely advocates for the individual at the core of concern –the deaf child. This book is must reading for anyone who cares about deaf children.
